Dragonflies and Guardian Angels

One grandson leaves this life, and another one's health takes a turn for the better. We have been on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Experiencing Dylan's passing was the hardest thing I've ever been through. I was worried that I would never be able to get the memory from my mind. But, Heavenly Father is mindful of us and will never abandon us in our times of need. As each day passes I feel more peace and comfort.

For the first three weeks of Mason's life, he just didn't seem to be getting better. In fact, he kept having setbacks that really concerned his family and the doctors. After Dylan passed away, I asked our Father in Heaven that if he could spare him for a while, to please let him check in on Mason. Since that time Mason started to improve incrementally and right after Dylan's funeral, we found out that they were able to remove his pic-line. The very next day, Mason had the best day of his short little life. He ate over 50 ml of formula and the best part had no episodes of apnea. I am convinced that Dylan had a part in that sweet blessing and was allowed to be Mason's guardian angel for a time.

My cousin, Angel, had told me that she had a special fondness for dragonflies, especially blue ones. Our grandmother died a few years ago, and Angel said that Grandma would always touch her right shoulder when Angel was having a bad day and tell her that everything would be all right. When Grandma was buried, a blue dragonfly landed on Angel's right shoulder. Angel felt like this was a sign from Grandma telling her that everything was going to be all right. I thought this was a sweet memory for her.

Legend says that a dragonfly is a symbol of a person who has died and moved on to a better life. After we dedicated Dylan's grave, we released balloons. Of course they were blue, orange, and white ones. As I watched the balloons fly, a blue dragonfly flew through them. It seemed to me to be a sweet personal message that Dylan has moved on to a better place, free from disease, pain, and the limitations of his human body. I know that Heavenly Father knows us personally and will give us what we need to be strengthened as we pass through difficult times.

Baby Graham

McKell and Chase's baby, Graham. Couldn't be sweeter or healthier. I sure am more mindful of the blessings of health these days.

A Grammy's heartbreak

Baby Mason

Dylan and little brother Drew

Some days you feel a little beat up. Today is one of those days. I am giving it my all to keep my act together with a positive attitude....but, it's really hard. Up until Dylan was diagnosed with his brain tumor, it felt as if we were leading a charmed life; lots of health and happiness. I've now learned that no one is immune to trials and heartache.

Little Mason had a better day today (you can check out his story here), but Dylan is not doing very well. You can read about Dylan at here. My two precious grandsons who are having health stuggles. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for their incredible moms who have demonstrated a strength that I don't think I could ever have. I know Heavenly Father is mindful of us and has given us miracles and sent us many tender mercies throughout this difficult journey. I am so thankful for people who have listened to the promptings of the spirit when my family has needed help.
